It’s no secret that I’ve needed a little kickstart in my running this year. After a year-long running streak last year, it’s been rough to get back on the train, despite having run a few races already this year. I did a half marathon last month and I’ve got a 10-miler this weekend in D.C.
My upcoming race is actually one of my spring-time favorites: the Cherry Blossom 10-Miler. I’m sadly untrained. I’ll run the race, but what I’m realizing is that I’m in desperate need of cross-training. Aren’t we all…? Last year, I put myself on the February Fab Ab challenge and I saw big improvements in my running. This year? I need that same bit of routine and commitment — and who better to join me than you, dear readers?
So here we go! The Fab Ab April 30-Day Core Challenge. Let’s do this! Details below…
Step 1: The Plan
Step 2: The Details
I cannot claim this plan as my own. It’s from a Facebook page I started following a while back called 30 Day Challenge Series. Every month, you get a new challenge to take on — abs, arms, butt, cardio kick-starts. The website, Eat. Drink. Be Skinny, has all the moves and the full plan laid out for you — and it’s very well done. And on Facebook you can sign up to attend the April event. I have, and several friends have followed suit. If you do, please let me know! You can also just follow along quietly or here with me. I’d love the company. Lord knows, I’ll need it.
Step 3: Just Do It!
Yep, it’s that simple. Just follow this plan (consult a doc if you must) for 30 days straight. Then, let’s brag a little about the results, shall we? I’m planning to do this along with a few other cross training moves to give me a little jump start into my spring and summer running. I think the trails might be calling me for a fall trail half marathon.
There you have it. Who’s with me?!
Gotta run – and crunch,
